A basement mechanical space in the 1 N. Dearborn building that was un-tempered for the past 110 years is now a new fitness center dubbed “the works.” To preserve some of the building's history, a giant chilled water valve and 20 feet of the horizontal branch was cleaned and encased in a glass wall. Several months of design collaboration between Beacon Capital Partners, MB RealEstate, Wright Heerema, Kent Consulting and BEAR resulted in a 16 week schedule. Project Manager Jarrik Mitchell and Superintendent Dan Sweeney managed this amazing project for BEAR.
BEAR extended the building freight elevator up one floor into the existing mechanical penthouse and created a new elevator lobby that now leads to a multimedia conference room, technical training rooms, bathrooms, a magnificent lounge and a striking exterior roof deck that accommodates a full bar, fire pit and Laria Shade structure. EVP Scott Kurinsky, Sr. Project Manager Jack Kammerer and Superintendent Dennis Wills managed the project for BEAR.
And Also A Canopy
and Lobby Renovation
Sr. Project Manager Jack Kammerer and Superintendent Dennis Wills represented BEAR on the 1. N Dearborn canopy and lobby renovation project. Following the demo of the existing canopy, structural support steel and an Americlad system were installed. BEAR created a temperature and dust controlled environment during the installation of new 3 bay windows with 84 LED mirror panels behind the existing windows. The lobby ceiling was painted and new sconce, elevator call lights, and pendant lighting were also installed.
Teamsters Local 705 engaged BEAR to build their new 58,000 sq. ft. building at 325 S. Paulina, Chicago. The structural pre-cast, 3 story office building will house the Teamsters Local 705 HQ and offer additional leasable office space on the 1st and 2nd floors. Project Executive Joe Malfeo, Assistant Project Manager David Haag and Sr. Project Coordinator Michele Falk will manage the project, expected to be completed late October.
PMMI awarded BEAR their 12,500 sq. ft. tenant build out at 401 N. Michigan, Chicago. Designed by SkB Architects the space features a mural of the Chicago sky line fabricated after the Cubs won the World Series. Project Manager Scott Hopkins and Superintendent Rudy Campanotto managed the project for BEAR.
