Project Executive Ben Miles and Superintendent Dan Miles built out approximately 24,000 sq. ft. of space for the University of Chicago at 130 E. Randolph, Chicago. The office space was designed by PFB Architects with mechanical engineering provided by
T & M Associates.
NEWMAT STRETCH CEILING SYSTEM
Merchandise Mart Properties engaged Bear Construction to install a “Newmat Stretch Ceiling System” in the south lobby of the iconic building. The new ceiling system provides a new architectural design with improved acoustical and lighting capabilities. The lobby remained fully functional during the entire work schedule. Project Executive Tim Kosogof and Superintendent Tom Lane managed the project for Bear.
1 NORTH DEARBORN
MB Real Estate and Beacon Capital employed Bear to build out a 17,700 sq. ft. spec suite at 1. N. Dearborn, Chicago. Wright Heerema Architects designed the space, which involved reusing some of the original maple flooring that was buried under concrete underlayment throughout the building, which was constructed starting in 1881. Project Manager Jarrik Mitchell worked with MB and WHA over several months, providing budgeting and value engineering. Dan Sweeney was the project Superintendent.
RIVER POINT NORTH
Bear was engaged by Equity Office Properties to install 23 new windows on the 9th floor, south tower of River Point North, Chicago. Bear had to reinforce the existing structure to deal with the removal of 280 sq. ft. of precast concrete curtain wall panels at 10 of the locations. All of the work was performed from inside the building, including glazing. Project Executive Tim Kosogof and Superintendent Tom Lane managed the 3 month project for Bear.

Bear is looking to the future, utilizing cutting edge technology to become more efficient and transparent. Yogi provides Bear project managers with aerial views of pre-construction sites and construction progress. The amazing 360º camera and software produces instantaneous scrollable images of the entire surrounding environment. Executive Coordinator Tony Gloria is Yogi’s FAA licensed operator.
