PRESENCE HEALTH CONVENANT MEDICAL URBANA, IL.
Presence Health engaged BEAR to construct a 3500 sq. ft. building on top of an existing single story structure on their Urbana campus. Class 4 infection control requirements were maintained during the entire project without disrupting daily procedures in two adjacent surgical suites and lab below. The addition houses two GE Discovery machines, which is state of the art technology to treat heart, vascular and neuro patients. This Presence location is only the second in the world to be installed on a former roof.
Project Executive Joe Malfeo and Superintendent Matt McDonough managed the project for BEAR.
250 WISCONSIN, MILWAUKEE
Millbrook Real Estate Company engaged BEAR to remodel the building entrance, lobby and adjacent common areas at 250 E. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee. Pedestrian traffic was rerouted several times without incident during construction, creating a new canopy and storefront, new glass wall panels, lighting, terrazzo flooring, and security console. The striking tenant lounge provides a comfortable environment to relax and socialize. Project Manager Neil Ribarchek and Superintendent Steve Reuse managed the project for BEAR.
1 N. LaSalle
ONL Properties and MBRE engaged BEAR to build a terrace on the 25th floor of their 1 N. LaSalle building, Chicago. Built in 1929, existing structural drawings were inadequate to determine if the roof could support the new amenity. Four weeks of working nights in occupied spaces, exposing and scanning steel members, concluded that 2 feet of lightweight concrete topping had to be removed for the terrace to be constructed. Partners By Design was the architect. Project Manager Jarrik Mitchell and Superintendent Dan Sweeney managed the project for BEAR.
231 S. LaSalle
BEAR was hired by JLL to build a stylish spec suite at one of Chicago’s architectural gems, 231 S. LaSalle. Designed by Perkins + Will, the 9047 sq. ft. suite’s biggest challenge was the existing plywood underlayment over a raised computer floor. Extreme floor prep ensured new products fully adhered. Sr. Project Manager Nick Minella and Superintendent Dan Dominik managed the project for BEAR.
President Nick Wienold celebrated his 70th birthday on May 19th with his BEAR family. The old BEAR is still quite active with the company he co-founded in 1984.
