Scott joined BEAR in 1987, working each summer while earning a Marketing degree from Northeast Missouri State University. In 1991, Scott joined the firm full-time and has spent the decades since working up to his current role as President. The initial portion of Scott’s career was focused on commercial interiors and workplace design. Building on that experience, his role has since shifted to leading the firm’s strategy and policies across all aspects of the business. Scott led the team that was responsible for BEAR’s largest project to date, the $1.2B renovation of Chicago’s Old Post Office. Scott remains involved in BEAR’s hiring, marketing and business development efforts, while overseeing all operational operations of the firm. During Scott’s tenure, the company has completed well over 230 million square feet of interior space and over $3B in total work, winning numerous awards and several Contractor of the Year recognitions along the way. Scott’s leadership style emphasizes fairness, engagement and the client-first mentality that exemplifies BEAR’s ideals. Scott is a board member of the Chicago Building Congress and professionally affiliated with IFMA, BOMA, and CREN, as well as several philanthropic organizations.
