BEAR Awarded a $53.2M Project with Niles Township High School District 219

BEAR Construction was recently awarded a $53.2M project with Niles Township High School District 219.

The project, which started in March 2025, will go through July 2026. Comprised across three locations, the project’s scope of work is as follows:

Niles West High School

• This project consists of a three-story, ~42,000 sf addition to Niles West High School that will house student services and a guest entrance on the first two floors, while the third floor will be home to a student commons, inclusive of a college and career center, classrooms, a wellness space and an outdoor roof patio. The existing building will also undergo interior renovations and MEP upgrades totaling ~16,900 sf.

Niles Central High School

• The project includes construction of a new two-story, ~42,500 sf new building for Niles Central High School. This building will include 16 instructional rooms, both traditional classrooms and career and technology education learning labs. Additional scope includes a new parking lot with underground utilities, underground stormwater management systems, electric vehicle charger stations, permeable pavers, concrete pavers, concrete sidewalk / walkways, curb/gutters, asphalt pavement and pavement markings.  Niles Central is a therapeutic public day school designed to support D219 students who benefit from a personalized learning environment. Currently, the school only occupies ~12,600sf of a building, so this new facility will be a substantial upgrade for Niles Central students. This project is also pursuing LEED and WELL Certification.

Niles North High School

• This project includes interior renovations of the Digital Media Lab at Niles North.
