Site Visit: Leyden High School District 212

As part of our continuous improvement initiative for our Business Development and Marketing teams, members of BEAR’s Education Division gave a tour of the various work we currently have underway for Leyden High School District 212.

At West Leyden, work includes a new emergency generator addition (1,000-SF), a new maintenance garage (2,400-SF), a new storm trap and new electric vehicle charging stations in addition to MEP infrastructure upgrades to accommodate each of the new additions.

At East Leyden, BEAR is renovating what was previously the lower-level cafeteria to become the new home for the deans and student services staff. The space will include new offices, conference rooms, break rooms, bathrooms, mechanical rooms, electrical rooms and more. The entire lower-level renovation spans over 17,000-SF. Additional work includes new athletic flooring in the fieldhouse. This project consists of considerable MEP infrastructure upgrades. New steam and chilled water lines were rerouted up and across the 1st and 2nd floor classrooms above the ceilings, new water mains were brought into the underground service trench and multiple new electric feeders from switch gears to service panels were added.

“I think all of our education projects have special significance to me because of the idea of building the future,” said Vice President of Construction Anthony Izzi, “but as an alum of East Leyden High School, I am proud to be improving the educational experience for future generations who will be walking on the same campus that I did in the past.”
