Project Details
BEAR Construction Company’s primary objective in Phase 1 of the Aqua Lagoon Expansion was to remove approximately 21,011 CY of peat within the 6 ACRE parcel of land owned by Aqua Illinois, Inc. BEAR coordinated with Aqua, third-party geotechnical engineers and the Village of Hawthorn Woods to successfully complete this project ahead of schedule in just 6 WEEKS. The heavy civil construction project included site surveying, tree removal, soil erosion & sediment control, peat removal, grading and stabilization. Weather delays along with managing owner contracted materials required additional communications, scheduling and collaboration efforts with all parties involved. The coordination of approximately 120 daily truckloads of material through a residential neighborhood along with the daily maintenance of an active residential roadway used to transport a total of 1,314 truckloads, was just one logistical challenge BEAR overcame to deliver this project successfully, with no incidents.
