AT&T Vertical Building Addition

This unique project consisted of adding an additional floor to an existing building that remained operational throughout construction. The existing facility housed a large amount of critical infrastructure for NORAD, Emergency 911 Dispatch and AT&T’s central office. Project challenges included creating a temporary roof that would protect equipment worth millions of dollars, which was achieved without a single reported incident. Monolithically poured concrete columns that extended through the temporary roof enable BEAR to extend the elevator system and stair towers, all while working within close proximity to active COMED transformer equipment.
