East Leyden Basement Cafeteria Renovation (Franklin Park)
BEAR converted what was previously the lower-level 17,000-SF cafeteria to become the new home of the deans and student services staff. The space includes new offices, conference rooms, break rooms, bathrooms, mechanical rooms, electrical rooms and more. In addition, BEAR replaced the athletic flooring in the fieldhouse. The project required considerable MEP infrastructure upgrades including new water mains which were brought into the underground service trench, new steam and chilled water lines which were rerouted up and across the 1st and 2nd floor classrooms above the ceilings, and the addition of multiple new electric feeders from switch gears to service panels.
West Leyden Maintenance Garage & Generator (Northlake)
As part of a multi-faceted West Leyden campus improvement project, BEAR constructed a new 2,400-SF maintenance garage with three overhead doors and a new 1,000-SF Emergency Generator addition. Project scope also included a new storm trap and a new electric vehicle charging station. Additional electrical infrastructure work was completed to bring power to the new EM generator. As a majority of this work was completed while students and staff were on campus, safety and traffic coordination were of utmost importance and special care was taken to minimize disruptions to normal activities.
