Project Details
As part of an ongoing “Building Green & Healthy Schools” initiative within the Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) system, BEAR completed two of the five school projects undertaken in 2024. For Lincoln Avenue School, over 15,000-SF of asphalt was replaced with new green space and mixed-use recreational and educational areas. The project features three outdoor classroom areas, mindfulness garden, and multiple artistic and play elements. The addition of over 30 stormwater trees, a variety of native plantings, a bioswale with underground cistern and a porous, synthetic turf soccer field all contribute to a stormwater system that manages over 103,450 gallons of stormwater per rain event.
