As a global manufacturer and supplier of some of the world’s most iconic and recognized wine and spirits, it is no wonder that Pernod Ricard asked BEAR to complete their new regional office inside Chicago’s iconic Old Post Office (OPO). The 28-foot-high ceilings and large perimeter windows unique to the OPO allowed the design team at geniant + Eastlake Studio to create an open, inviting office experience despite the somewhat narrow footprint of the space. Luxurious finishes and decorative pendant lighting are paired with areas of exposed concrete flooring to pay homage to the building’s history, once the nation’s largest mail sorting facility. A large boardroom with advanced audio-visual (AV) and videoconferencing technology connects the Chicago location to Pernod Ricard’s global network. Other project highlights include a hotel-quality bar and lounge area perfect for hosting client and employee events, multiple smaller AV-enabled conference rooms, two private telephone booths and a sizable wellness room.
