Swedish Hospital – Family Birthing Center

The Family Birthing Center at Swedish Hospital (part of NorthShore) was designed to provide clinical expertise and leading-edge medical capabilities in a comfortable, private and home-like setting. The complete 17,420-SF renovation of the family birthing unit was completed in 6 phases. Areas renovated included all patient rooms, waiting room, lobby, nurse station, nursery, triage rooms and bathrooms. As the family birthing unit remained open during construction, we worked with the Swedish team to phase the project to maximize their working capacity. Infection control was set up in a way to keep all areas not currently under construction safe and accessible to the patients and healthcare workers.
