University of Chicago Medicine DCAM LINAC 3 Renovation

Located in the lower level of the six-story Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM) at the UChicago Medicine campus, BEAR renovated the LINAC 3 suite in between two active LINAC vaults. Consisting of a complete removal of all existing walls and finishes, the project featured a major MEP infrastructure replacement with removal of a significant portion of the slab on grade for new electrical conduits and mechanical piping. With a must-meet deadline to ensure the space was ready for the Linear Accelerator delivery, we worked closely with Varian, the hospital’s Linear Accelerator vendor. Additional project scope included upgraded storage reflecting the needs of the radiation oncology department as well as replacement of millwork as well as equipment monitors and control systems in the control room.
